Last weekend a group of neo-n*zi’s decided they would show up and protest LoveFest, an event put on by one of our community partners Equality Toledo. After that, they decided to drive to Sylvania and protest outside of Congregation B’nai Israel. Over the past month when I have had the honor of preaching, I have focused on what Jesus you follow, what it means to follow him, and that love is the key to working for justice here and now. These broken people decided to spend a nice Sunday showing how small they are by trying to instill fear and hate behind masks and tiki torches. There is no part of me that would be surprised if we found out some (or all) of them were at church hours before. Love is the reason we at Trinity are so radical in our welcoming, and it is this love that overflows from our hearts because we choose to follow a Jesus who understands why those on the margins of society come first in the kin-dom.

That being said, we will be hosting a PRIDE meeting after service this Sunday for about 30 minutes. If you have questions, want to volunteer, please come and join us in the living room. If you’re interested in signing up to volunteer, please visit this link and sign up!

Also, our 2023 Pride shirts are now available to order at JūpMode, please follow this link to order and you will be able to pick them up at Trinity on one of the Sunday’s in August. Deadline to order is the 31st.

Part of being an active member in the kin-dom means shining that light of love that we are all given, and at times it can be scary. But remember, this is who we are, a group of radical people wanting to show love, acceptance, and kindness to all who enter our doors.

Grace and peace,
George Benson (he/him)
