I recently participated in phase 1 of the Trinity 2030 Vision Crafting Process that took place on June 15, 2019. As part of the process, we went around the room, and each person participating was supposed to tell everyone your name, and in three words tell the other participants what keeps us coming back to Trinity. Well, being the introvert that I am, of course feeling the pressure, had to come up with something to say that would kind of express what I felt, but it wasn’t in three words. Now that I have had time to think about it a while, I would like to share three words with you that expresses why I continue to be a part of Trinity.

The three words that I feel sum up why I continue to be a part of Trinity are acceptance, love, and community. I know that as a middle-aged, overweight, lesbian woman with faults, that I am accepted as part of the community.  I know that even though we don’t always like each other very much, we do in fact love each other. We continue to be nourished and nurtured by each other week after week, so that we can go back out in to the greater community and be our best selves to those we meet along the way. And that leads me to my last word, which is community. We are a community of people that are welcoming, compassionate, loving, diverse, broken, bruised, and we are still a work in progress, but that is okay.

These are my three words, and this is what brings me back to Trinity week after week. What are your three words?

Peace,

Donna
