The Rev. Jon M. Richardson (he/him)

jon@trinitytoledo.org
Rector

Called to Trinity in 2025, Jon has been a priest for nearly two decades. Much of his ministry is focused on social justice, relationship building, and empowering lay ministry. Nationally, Jon has been a leader in queer rights movements in the Episcopal Church – notably, working with denominational leaders to secure support for marriage equality and transgender protections, and helping to lead conferences in the US, Europe, and Africa addressing gender and queer justice. Locally, Jon focuses on designing worship, programming, and preaching that reflects progressive Christian values and explores ways that we encounter God in our everyday lives.

A few of Jon’s favorite things: his husband (Michael), their puppy (Tino), theatre, music (Meghan Trainor, Indigo Girls, and Spencer LaJoye are faves!), travel, visiting Presidential libraries

George Benson (he/him)

george@trinitytoledo.org
Director of
Community Engagement

Since December of 2022 George has called Trinity his home and is honored to be here. Having spent most of his adult life balancing professional ministry and random private sector jobs, landing in community engagement has been a great match. Whether it is connecting members to the weekly community breakfast, speaking with elected representatives, organizing our Pride presence, and everything in-between, George loves it all. Seeking peace and justice through the community efforts at Trinity sets George’s heart on fire.

A few of George’s favorite things: his wife and kid, pets, collecting weird things, writing books and articles, and reading

Contact George for: community engagement (Pride, Trinity Response Team), outreach (Breakfast at Trinity, food pantry), children’s & youth ministries, and worship leader scheduling

Chelsie Cree (she/her)

chelsie@trinitytoledo.org
Director of
Music & the Arts

As Director of Music and the Arts, Chelsie has studied and worked as a singer, musician, and music director for a decade. In her time as an active performer, Chelsie sang roles like Ms. Lovett in The Ballad of Sweeney Todd, Francesca in The Bridges of Madison County, The Baker’s Wife in Into the Woods, and Donna Anna in Don Giovanni. She has won multiple awards for achievement in classical singing, and has sung with many organizations, including the Toledo Opera Chorus, the Toledo Symphony, and many other groups in the Midwest. Music and vocal direction have become her primary joys; her work includes leading the casts of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, The Prom, Seussical the Musical, Mean Girls High School Edition, and many more to come. As a teacher and coach, Chelsie has taught area vocal students at places like Toledo School for the Arts and has been invited back to her alma mater as a guest speaker/performer, as well as Bowling Green State University. In leading the Trinity Choir and Trinity music program, Chelsie believes that the making of music is a ministry, the sacred can be found in any genre of music, and music can act as a vehicle for life-changing relationships and community. With vocal health as her top priority, her greatest joy is found in leading Trinity Choir rehearsals.

When she’s not at Trinity, Chelsie serves as the Artistic Director for the Theater Division for The Toledo Met in Sylvania.

A few of Chelsie’s favorite things: playing Dungeons and Dragons with her friends, board games of all sorts, theatre, drawing, pottery/art shows, and puppies of all sizes and ages.

Trinity Vestry

The Vestry is the governing body of the church and consists of nine parishioners who serve staggered three-year terms. A Senior and a Junior Warden, who are elected annually by their colleagues, head the Vestry, and with the Rector, participate in leading monthly Vestry meetings, which are held on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Vestry meetings are open to parishioners.
At each meeting, the Vestry prays, conducts the business of the parish, and shares fellowship with one another. Each member serves as a liaison to one of the standing committees of the church and, through these connections, determines what resources are needed to support the activities God is calling our community to do.

Through thoughtful stewardship and prayerful commitment, Vestry members support the health and vitality of Trinity and share our commitment to building God’s Beloved Community.
