Good day, beautiful people!

Well, it’s that time of year: CHOIR SEASON IS UPON US!

Don’t get me wrong, everyone needs a break, AND being away from our lovely choir has been a challenge this summer. Truly, there is nothing better than taking an evening to sit around the piano with your friends and sing beautiful music. And while it may seem that the point of choir is to sing music- a completely reasonable thought, what continues to be proved over and over again is this truth: the point of choir is who we are singing with. In choir, music is our vehicle to connection. It is so much more about the people sitting next to you, together singing all kinds of different notes: good, bad, right, wrong, inspired, uninspired… the works. The point is, we’re doing it together, and that is all that counts.

Over the next couple weeks, I am inspired to lift other voices in our community through this platform. The truth is, I am a music professional. And while music means a great deal to me, my experience as a professional and therefore my relationship to music is different than someone who has chosen a different profession, and therefore chooses music as an advocation. It’s a whole different kind of love, and the stories of that love are worth sharing.

Have great weeks my friends, and happy singing!

Chelsie
