Dear Friends,
As I’m sure many of you do as well, I usually read through the Trinity Topics on Friday mornings as I drink coffee and scroll through the news before work. Over the past three weeks, this has included reading and thinking on the summer reflection questions provided by the Spiritual Formation Committee. Each week I’ve put down my phone and taken a few moments from my morning to sit with and reflect on the question. Some weeks have been easy to think of an immediate answer; other weeks I struggled and had to think a bit.
I’ve found that as I go about my day, and the days following, the questions often come back to me. Certain experiences, both positive and negative, will remind me of the week’s question, causing me to think back and mentally note my thoughts again, often reframed from how I initially thought of them. As someone who often struggles with being present, I’ve welcomed this opportunity to add some mindfulness to my days. It’s been interesting to see how my own thoughts change throughout the week, and how those thoughts shape my relationship with faith.
Each season brings its own type of business, and summer is no exception. If you haven’t reflected on or discussed any of the questions, there is no pressure here. If you have, how are you engaging with them? What has resonated with you?
Best,
Brenda Zwayer
