In observance of National Gun Violence Weekend, Actors Collaborative Toledo and Trinity Episcopal join together to present Martin Zimmerman’s amazingly powerful piece that was inspired by the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012. The one-hour long monologue will be offered by a university professor following the death of her child who has been killed in a similar attack. This performance will take place in our Sanctuary. Tickets can be purchased here.
Since 2015, June 2 has been a National Gun Violence Awareness Day in this country to honor the tragic death of Hadiya Pendleton, who in January of 2013, at 16, was shot and killed in a Chicago playground one week after marching in President Obama’s second inaugural parade. Her friends wore orange to commemorate her life- as that is the color hunters wear to protect themselves. The Wear Orange campaign has grown nationally since then raising awareness, educating and is now a weekend long period. This year Wear Orange will take place June Friday June 2- Sunday June 4th.
