Housing and Shelter

Beach House Family Shelter A community agency that helps homeless women and families regain independence. We provide an annual financial pledge of support, personal hygiene items, and no-sew blankets.

Family House A non-profit organization dedicated to helping families in a crisis find permanent housing, regain control over their lives, and reclaim their independence. We provide an annual financial pledge of support and plant a vegetable garden with/for the residents.

FOCUS Family Outreach Community United Services (FOCUS) is a community agency that enables people to emerge from homelessness and gain economic and social stability. We serve on the Board of Trustees and provide an annual financial pledge of support, Christmas Angels gifts for clients and other financial and in-kind support.

Harbor House Transitional Shelter for Women A community agency that helps homeless and chemically-dependent women to sustain their recovery, gain self-sufficiency, and work toward the chance to be reunited with their children. We provide an annual financial pledge of support, personal hygiene items, and no-sew blankets.

Renaissance Senior Apartments A faith-based housing agency that offers affordable apartments for those age 55+ or disabled, right across the street from Trinity. We provide an annual financial pledge that supports resident social activities, and assistance to individual residents as requested.

Tent City/1Matters Tent City is 48 hours of outdoor music, food, and services in the heart of downtown Toledo to people who are homeless. It’s about leveraging compassion through collaboration. We provide personal hygiene kits and no-sew blankets.


Education and Youth Programs

Boy Scouts Boy Scouts learn new skills with adult guidance in an environment that fosters character, teamwork, leadership and service. We provide meeting space.

Ella P. Stewart Academy for Girls A central-city Toledo Public School for girls, K-8. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy for Boys A central-city Toledo Public School for boys, K-8. Glenwood Elementary School A coeducational central-city Toledo Public School, K-8. We provide supplies quarterly to each school, including socks, underwear, shirts and ties; toothbrushes and toothpaste; backpacks filled with school supplies; hats, gloves and scarves.

Mom’s House A faith-based organization that offers child care and parenting education skills to single teen parents so that they can graduate from high school, technical school or college and establish healthy, financially independent families. We hold an annual Diaper Shower that supplies hundreds of diapers, provide an annual financial pledge of support, and offer no-sew blankets.

Read for Literacy One of the nation’s largest and most cost-effective all-volunteer literacy agencies, RFL teaches reading skills to adults, preschoolers, and English-language learners. We sponsor a team in the annual Corporate and Community Spelling Bee that benefits Read for Literacy.

Toledo Campus Ministry This is a student organization at the University of Toledo for students from mainline Protestant denominations. Trinity members support and chaperone students on Alternative Spring Break mission trips.


Service Organizations/Programs

MultiFaith Council The MultiFaith Council draws together diverse faiths in mutual respect, friendship, cooperation and service. We provide an annual membership pledge to support the Compassionate Community Project. In 2015, Trinity was honored as a Hero of Compassion for its ten year “Blanket Toledo with Love” program.

Race for the Cure The local affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is dedicated to combatting breast cancer through breast health education, breast cancer screening and treatment, and the funding of breast cancer research. We offer the official blessing of the participants before the start of the Race, and members often participate in the walk/run which goes right past our building.

St. Paul’s Community Center A faith-based agency that provides support services to people who are homeless or indigent, particularly the persistently mentally ill. We provide Sunday lunch for 150–180 people twice a year plus Thanksgiving Friday supper for residents, personal hygiene items, no-sew blankets and an annual financial pledge of support.

Toledo Pride Fest Pride is the largest gay-focused event in Toledo, an annual summer weekend of entertainment, vendors, community groups, a parade and more. We participate in the multifaith Pride gathering, and sometimes host a booth to welcome members and friends of the gay community.


Funding for much of this support comes from Next to New, the resale shop on the basement level at Trinity. Next to New also serves the city directly, selling new and gently used goods at affordable prices to our downtown neighbors.
